Airfare prediction website offers a unique service by providing its users with intelligent airfare predictions: travel shoppers can save money by knowing best dates & airline companies to buy tickets;  the website also provides an airfare search experience and supports airline booking. Unlike other travel companies, this website predicts when a user should buy a ticket based upon 170+ billion points of previous airfare data. While the website has a lot of competition, they claim it is the only company which can predict future prices.

This unique service was supported by the leading US software development provider with QA services since 2003, and thus it was brought to high quality level, allowing it to be successful on the market after its launch in 2007.

Since Eclipse SP has a long track record of successfully accomplished projects for the US software development provider, Eclipse SP team was contracted to provide quality assurance for the emerging service in 2006, just before the launch.

The challenges for the project were:

1. To establish a dedicated QA Team to support rapidly growing innovative start-up project specialized on data analysis and decision making support;
2. To set up the efficient communication channel between US development team (at Customer’s premises) and dedicated QA Lab at Eclipse SP;
3. To perform flexible integration into existent development process.

Eclipse SP Test Lab, located in Ukraine, was operating successfully during 20 months. Several demos and IT fairs were successfully performed using software processed by Eclipse SP QA specialists.

Eclipse SP Test Lab successfully accomplished testing of the service and helped to ensure its high quality. Later on, the service was bought by the world’s leading multinational computer technology corporation for more than $80 million.

Customer is a leading German telecom company, which produced an embedded solution for broad range of mobile devices with Symbian and WinMobile 2003-2006 OS that allows reducing the cost of calls and data transfer (SMS, MMS, email).

As product’s new versions are being permanently released, Customer needed a Test Laboratory which will provide permanent testing services. Eclipse SP provided a dedicated test team to perform full scale testing of the Customer’s solution, and the main project challenge was deep integration of developed applications to mobile phone functions. Through its proven testing methodologies Eclipse SP test team showed high level of quality verification, automated testing and regression trend analysis.

Eclipse SP testing team introduced Customer with unique testing technique, which allows finding bugs in new product’s versions under time. An application passes Microsoft and Symbian certification.

Eclipse SP established a dedicated team, which is working on DDS testing. The team keeps abreast of the latest OMG technologies (especially related to CORBA, DDS and MDD) and is capable to provide enterprise-level services to PrismTech.

The main purposes of project are:

• Designing and developing test system that provides capabilities to compose test scenarios, launch tests on different hosts with various OS and for several program languages.
• Complete testing of solution including: designing test cases for system tests; implementing functional, performance, protocol, scalability, and load tests.

Project was accomplished with successful delivery of test result, which helped Customer to enhance its mission-critical networked system.

Total duration for this project for today is about 72 man/months.
